Phoebe Belle Cates was born in a family of film and television professionals. Her mother is Broadway producer Lily, and her father is the television pioneer Joseph Cates. Cates became a model when she was 14 and has appeared on the covers of several magazines since. Her acting debut was in 1981, the film Paradise. For some inappropriate shots, Phoebe expressed regret to appear in this film. In 1982, Cates starred in ‘Fast Times at Ridgemont High’ and gained fame for it.

Cates not only proved herself that she’s one of the premier actresses out there in Hollywood, but she also showed that she had what it takes to manage her own investments. In 1994, Phoebe decided to quit acting and concentrate on taking care of her two children. Later, her boutique, the Blue Tree, has slowly emerged as one of the prime boutiques in New York and online. It also allowed her to spend precious time with her family. Now, that’s something any money can’t buy!
